The Dark Knight is the second of the Christian Bale era Batman movies. I'm a HUGE Batman fan. The first, Batman Begins, was phenomenal. I also really liked most of the other modern-day Batman movies. I have a cat named Batman. Get the idea?
This movie was a huge disappointment. The previews were mezmorizing. Heath Ledger as the Joker was touted as one of the best villians ever. So, you can imagine that I was very excited to finally watch this. Unfortunately, it was a very run of the mill action/comic book movie. Heath's performance was too understated to be impressive. He just seemed like a guy with some makeup who liked to kill people. I didn't feel his mania anything like the villian in Batman Begins.
Also, the story was thin. A two and a half hour movie could have some more substance.

I have to see this one again. I did like Heath's performance, but there were 2 major issues I had with the movie. One...it was TOO LONG...unless it was the mood I was in, but it seemed to go on forever. Two, when Bale was batman...what was with his voice? He sounded like Kurt Cobain on a 4 day bender...couldn't understand a word he was saying. My only wish was that the Scarecrow had a bigger part...he was my favorite character in the first movie, and in general!!
